Apache ignoring DocumentRoot

I am attempting to modify the DocumentRoot for a virtual host in Apache. The DocumentRoot setting for the virtual host is being ignored, and instead the overall DocumentRoot is being used.

In my case, instead of using /Applications/AMPPS/www/public as the root folder, Apache is using /Applications/AMPPS/www.

The relevant part of the httpd.conf file is given below. Does anyone see a problem?

# DocumentRoot: The directory out of which you will serve your
# documents. By default, all requests are taken from this directory, but
# symbolic links and aliases may be used to point to other locations.
#
DocumentRoot "/Applications/AMPPS/www"

...snip...

<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80>
<Directory "/Applications/AMPPS/www">
Options FollowSymLinks Indexes
AllowOverride All
Order deny,allow
allow from All
</Directory>
ServerName localhost
ServerAlias localhost 127.0.0.1
ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/Applications/AMPPS/www/cgi-bin/"
DocumentRoot "/Applications/AMPPS/www/public"
ErrorLog "/Applications/AMPPS/apache/logs/error_log"
CustomLog "/Applications/AMPPS/apache/logs/access.log" combined
</VirtualHost>

Empty reply from server after 120 seconds with PHP script

I am running AMPPS on my local machine.

Other than max_execution_time in php.ini, is there anything else that could be causing a simple php script to fail after 120 seconds every time?

I have this simple php script...

$start = time();
while(1){
    echo "GO \n\n";
    sleep(5);
    if(time() - $start > 110){
        die("COMPLETE");
    }
}

The above script will output "COMPLETE" after 115 seconds. However, if I change the time to be

if(time() - $start > 120){

the server responds with a "Empty reply from server".

My php max_execution_time is set to 2400. I can confirm this with "echo ini_get('max_execution_time')".

I have tried :

set_time_limit(0);
ignore_user_abort(true);

But never can I get the script to execute for more than 120 seconds.

I also thought it might be the browser timeout but have tried with curl and increased the max execution time on that and I still get

curl: (52) Empty reply from server

Any suggestions?

EDIT:

One thing I notice is that I can run the script fine and without limits on the command line.

AMPPS Virtual Host doesn’t connect

I have installed AMPPS for MAC, it's a straight out of the box installation. I create a domain but when I go to access it in a browser the connection is refused. Localhost works and so do all the AMPPS admin bits.

Ive checked the vhosts conf and it looks fine and there is a line in the hosts table. Any ideas?

http://localhost works but not http://shadow.local

#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo_log"
# with ServerRoot set to "{$path}/apache" will be interpreted by the
# server as "{$path}/apache/logs/foo_log".

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "{$path}/apache"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.

AMPPS (Windows): How to change default paths?

I installed AMPPS on my computer (Windows 7 Pro x86) and I already configured Apache and MySQL, which are automatically running when I initialise AMPPS.

I had to change the Apache's default port (80) to 8080 because it was in conflict with an already active process.
As you can see in this image, there are 3 buttons (under the restart ones):

  • Local Web
  • AMPPS Home
  • AMPPS Admin

I already managed to change the Local Web default path, so it's being accessed properly through the browser (Google Chrome).
The problem now is that I want to change the default path of both AMPPS elements, which I couldn't so far. I've researched about it already and I can't find the file(s) needed to change this configuration.

Whenever I click on AMPPS Home, it opens a tab on my browser with the following URL:

localhost/ampps

Which retrieves an error, since I changed the port to 8080 and I'm unable to change it for AMPPS. I just need to add :8080 after localhost and it works as intended, but I must do it manually.

What's the configuration I've to change/set in order to make the path correct, according to my port?

Windows hosts file not working with ampps server on windows

I have recently switched from XAMPP to AMPPS. I'm trying to create virtual hosts on my Windows 10 machine but can't get them work. This is how I'm creating them in the hosts file:

 127.0.0.1 localhost
 127.0.0.1 mysite.com

Then, in my httpd.conf located in ampps/apache/conf I have the following virtual host:

 <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80>
      ServerName mysite.com
      DocumentRoot "C:/ampps/www/mysite/public"
 </VirtualHost>

I'm currently working on a laravel project, I know there is homestead but in this case we are working with ampps, that's what I need to do this.

When I open mysite.com It returns server not found. I think that it's a windows problem. Thanks in advance.

AMPPS internal server error

i'm trying to deploy a python application on my local network using AMPPS. I'm using apache mod wsgi for it. I created a virtual host, code given below

<VirtualHost 192.168.0.102:80>
    ServerName myopinion
    WSGIScriptAlias / C:\wsgi_app\myopinion.wsgi
    <Directory C:\wsgi_app>
            Order deny,allow
            Allow from all
    </Directory>

I made following changes in httpd.conf file of apache 2:

enabled mod wsgi using :

  • LoadModule wsgi_module modules/mod_wsgi.so

included my above virtual host file flaskapp.conf using

  • Include conf/extra/flaskapp.conf

my wsgi file myopinion.wsgi for loading python application server.py is as below:

#!/usr/bin/python
import sys
#import logging
#logging.basicConfig(stream=sys.stderr)
sys.path.insert(0,"/C:\wsgi_app")

from server import app as application

after doing all of the above things I restarted the server and tried my url

ip:80/myapp/ques/2

and i got the below message: Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

why am i geting this error?

any help will be appreciated..

Why cannot Apache handle multiple requests at the same time?

I have AMPPS installed.

My Apache server cannot handle multiple php requests at once (for example if I call localhost/script.php multiple times, they are processed in a consecutive order). script.php consists only of <?php sleep(10); ?>.

I read that MaxClients directive is responsible for concurrent access configuration, but it is missing in my httpd.conf at all.

Disabling Xdebug and writing session_write_close(); to the beginning of the script didn't work.

When I added session_start(); to the beginning of the file and my code looked like:

<?php

session_start();
session_write_close();
sleep(10);
phpinfo();

echo "Done";

When making 5 requests to localhost/script.php, last 4 waited for the first one to end and then ended concurrently.

Please, help me resolve the issue. If any information that is needed to help me resolve this problem is missing, please notify and I will add it.

The mbstring extension is missing Windows AMPPS

I am running the AMPPS stack on Windows 10. I have been trying to get the configurations changed in php.ini while moving a Drupal site to my local environment. However, in the process I seem to have broken something. phppMyAdmin gives the following error:

The mbstring extension is missing. Please check your PHP configuration.

When I check the php.ini, the extension is enabled:

What could be going wrong? Do I have a wrong extension directory selected?

HTML file is downloading instead of opening on apache server (AMPPS)

yesterday i was playing with the http.conf file of my apache server to make it compile php inside html, it worked fine and all files was opening without problems, however today it keeps downloading html files instead of opening them, only the php file is working at the moment

my conf is as follow :

  <IfModule mime_module>
#
# TypesConfig points to the file containing the list of mappings from
# filename extension to MIME-type.
#
TypesConfig conf/mime.types

#
# AddType allows you to add to or override the MIME configuration
# file specified in TypesConfig for specific file types.
#
#AddType application/x-gzip .tgz
#
# AddEncoding allows you to have certain browsers uncompress
# information on the fly. Note: Not all browsers support this.
#
#AddEncoding x-compress .Z
#AddEncoding x-gzip .gz .tgz
#
# If the AddEncoding directives above are commented-out, then you
# probably should define those extensions to indicate media types:
#
AddType application/x-compress .Z
AddType application/x-gzip .gz .tgz
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
RemoveHandler .html .htm
AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .html .htm
AddType application/x-tar .tgz
AddType image/x-icon .ico
AddType application/vnd.wap.wmlc .wmlc
AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml .pwml .php5 .php4 .php3 .php2 .php .inc
AddType text/vnd.wap.wml .wml
AddType text/vnd.wap.wmlscript .wmls
AddType text/vnd.wap.wmlscriptc .wmlsc
AddType image/vnd.wap.wbmp .wbmp

#
# AddHandler allows you to map certain file extensions to "handlers":
# actions unrelated to filetype. These can be either built into the server
# or added with the Action directive (see below)
#
# To use CGI scripts outside of ScriptAliased directories:
# (You will also need to add "ExecCGI" to the "Options" directive.)
#
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl

# For type maps (negotiated resources):
#AddHandler type-map var

#
# Filters allow you to process content before it is sent to the client.
#
# To parse .shtml files for server-side includes (SSI):
# (You will also need to add "Includes" to the "Options" directive.)
#
AddType text/html .shtml
AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml

P.s the "RemoveHandler .html .htm " line is one of the line that i have added yesterday so that it compile php in html, i tried removing it but still the same.

Apache in Ampps doen’s start after installing Laravel (Mac)

I've been using Ampps with no problem until I installed Laravel.

Once I did, Apache in Ampps doesn't start. I suppose it's a conflict on port 80 but I don't know how to solve it.

When I execute:

sudo /Applications/AMPPS/apache/bin/httpd

I get:

(48)Address already in use: AH00072: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(48)Address already in use: AH00072: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
AH00015: Unable to open logs

Any ideas?
